Track Layout

Affectionately known as the paperclip, Queensland Raceway is an interesting and technical track. It may not look it with its 6 corners and flat as a pancake layout, but it is challenging.

Flying down Dick Johnson Straight past the start / finish line in 5th gear at about 230kmh the cars have to negotiate some huge bumps in the braking approach to the right handed Turn 1.

Turn 1 is a fast longish bend taken in 4th gear at around 150kmh. A short shute back up to 190kmh and the cars set up for the right handed Turn 2. Still in 4th and 140kmh getting the right line through here is critical to getting a good run down the fast back straight.

The cars face some more huge bumps in the braking approach to Turn 3 as they brake heavily from 250kmh in 6th gear down to 3rd gear and 75kmh for the tight right handed hairpin.

Easy on the throttle out of Turn 3 then its back up to 220kmh in 5th before braking for the first left handed corner on the circuit. Back down to 2nd and across the face at 95 kmh its a quick squirt up to 3rd and 130kmh before the next left hander is upon you.

Then its's back up to 5th and 210kmh before the brake for the final right handed hairpin, taken in 3rd gear and at about 80kmh.

Past the pit entry which is just before the exit of the final turn and the cars are back down the front straight past the pits.
